changing the future of

Palliative Care Consulting

who we are

Solace, was created to be a consulting resource, during palliative care stages.

Death is a profoundly personal passage and nothing is certain or concrete except for the final result. Many patients and families approaching end of life experience depression, vulnerability, hopelessness and confusion. Talking about dying can be hard.

Solace will help navigate you through the dying process and try to alleviate the stressors of not knowing.

There is no right or wrong way to deal with death and dying. Your experiences, circumstances, values, beliefs and culture will shape your own view. We believe when faced with a life limiting diagnosis, time with your family is precious, and incredibly important.

MEET THE

founder

It’s nice to meet you, I’m Karlene

With her calm supportive presence, she has brought ease to families struggling to understand end of life care. Her extensive Nursing career for over 20 years, caring for those with limited life expectancy, has brought her to create Solace Palliative Care Consulting.

Karlene believes that patients and family members faced with a life limiting disease deserve a profound amount of support and wellbeing. She practices nursing with the highest quality of care and has a unique ability to bring solace and peace during unforeseeable times.

Dying may take hours or days. No one can predict the time of death, even if the person is exhibiting typical end-of-life signs and symptoms. This can sometimes cause fatigue and confusion; and although one might be prepared for the dying process, one might not be prepared for the actual death moment. Karlene can be that guiding light for those who are experiencing a diagnosis of end of life

She can take the time to educate one of the most unknown times of life and try to help control the stress of the uncertainties.

Over the last five years Karlene has been providing the highest quality private palliative – End of life care consulting. In 2017 Karlene was contracted by the Department of National Defence to review, update, instruct as well as create examination questions for the Canadian Armed Forces Physician Assistant Program Palliative Care module. This content was used right up to the last graduating class in 2022.
